    I am guessing it has something to do with the thermostat.....

    Temps reading OK, or at least as well as can be determined on that guage? Maybe a bad connection to the temp sensor? Just swatting at flies, here...

    You might have a pressure leak somewhere. Chances are you won't even see it leaking. After the engine cools down, it doesn't leak. Just a guess.

    got a sitter and the wife and i went to dinner and a flick. my guage is not reaching the half way mark. only climbs about a 1/3 way up. So my mpg seems to be suffering since the ecu senses that its not up to running temp, so it runs richer. It shows all signs to a failing Tstat. i but the cheapest autozone (or was it pepboys?) Tstat and i thought to myself, since its cheap, how can a mechanical device fail. well, it seems to failed and is weak and opening too soon. im gonna replace the Tstat probably tomorrow now with the more costly one and hope thats all it needs

    changed out the thermostat to a new Stant 195. idle, temp got mid way right where it should be but blowing cool air when i had the heat blastin, shut her off went inside to eat. 15minutes later i fire to go pick up my daughter from volleyball, heat is now blowing hot, but now after driving, the gauge is now at 1/4 way from C.. WTF! possibility a weak tstat again is unlikely but alway possible. i get home with the kids, leave the car running, make my daughter her food and go back out to look at the gauge. its at the half way makr where it should be now. ok, not sure if the issue is when just driving out what?! im letting her cool over night and see what happens in the morning. also top off any needed coolant

    top off the fluid a tad today. and same issue, gauge dips when driving, climbs when stop (long enough) I drove it and it read cool. get the kids to the sitters, while car is idling in the driveway for 3-5 minutes, get back in the car, temp is in the middle 195 degrees. Start driving, it starts to dip again. Hope it just needs to be burped again.

    when you put the T-stat in, did you replace the gasket(think they call it a seal)?

    lol It is silly isnt it. 2nd time I replaced my Tstat the guy told me that no such thing exsisted.

    I went to the advance down the street and he told me he had 11 in stock.........

    think you have a CTS issue. either in the wiring or in the sensor itself.

    CTS= coolant temp sensor

    it is a plastic tube under the Throttle Body. it comes out of the block and makes a hard right and has a 2 wire connector going into the top of it.
