thanks
i got both parts(cupholders and shifter section) used from mazmart(sheldon), for around $100 total + some matte black krylon paint and clear coat from walmart. install is easy, the cupholder just pulls up with some prying. then the shifter section pulls out the same way - you have to work it up around the shifter, but its easy. there are a lot of others who have done the same thing and like it. others don't and like to express it their own rude and cowardly internet way, whatever, i don't care. do what you want.

No, dynaBel...for whatever reason, the USDM doesn't have the cup holder lid. Here's a pic of my 2006 with the '03-'05 pieces painted to match.

Hi everyone,
This is my first post even though I have searched this forum since 2006 when I bought my car. I love how much useful information you can find on here.

But relating to this topic about paint matching the parts of the console to match the rest. Does anyone know the paint code or somewhere I can buy a paint that will match the silver/brushed aluminum center console color on a 2003 mazda 6?

Im working on a little project and need a little help finding a paint to help me match it up.

Impressive skills you've got that allow you to search a site in 2006 that wasn't even up until 2008!

Anyway, your best bet is to just try a couple of silver's and see how it goes. The real issue with this "mod" is that the 03-05 shift & cup holder section are textured. Also, even painted the molded silver piping doesnt line up with the 06-08 center stack. If you want it to really look right you need to replace the center stack cover, the plate around the shifter, and the cup holder section.

Thank you,
I meant that I have been searching forums. like mazda6club and this one. not specifically one site vs another. Sorry, probably just made myself look stupid.

But I am in the process of sanding down the cup holder section. Right now I have it completely smooth and am going to wash it out and clean it before I lay a primer down. After that is when I am going to need a good silver match.

Appreciate your help. Also, I don't have the silver piping down the side as I have a 2003 and am just using my same cup holder assembly just making it have a smooth finish like the rest.
