I'm going to HiBoost the 6 here shortly and have been wondering whether the tranny or engine is weaker? A buddy of mine has a 500whp RSX and blows 2nd & 4th gear like it's nothing but his stock K20 motor can take the increase in hp. So my question is, on the 6 is the tranny or engine weaker? If it's the tranny, I've been contemplating having custom straight-cut gears (1-4) made since I don't think they sell any. Any info is greatly appreciated.
Also, anyone know how many pounds of boost I can SAFELY run on our stock motor? |

there are a few places that already make straight cut gears, and even gear ratios to order for the mazda G seiries trans. look up PAR gears. and there are others also. but PAR is the biggest.

I was looking for somewhere in the vicinity of 250-300whp. This will be a daily driver so I'm not trying to make it a rocket by any means, just a quick street car.

^^ LOL. Expect to wait AT LEAST 6 months for the kit upon ordering it.

Yea that is an option. All I would need is an exhaust manifold. The intercooler is universal. Intercooler piping would have to be custom made but I have a couple people I could go through for that. Maybe I'll do that. Kind of seems like a better option now that you mention it.

I did some research and I'm going to do the exhaust manifold that's externally wastegated that protegegarage.com has, a T3/T4 snail, treadstone vertical flow intercooler then have a guy I know fab up some intercooler piping as well as a down pipe and full 3" exhaust. Throw in a Tial BOV and a Tial 38mm wastegate and I'd be set.

let first start by saying, a stock K20 motor is not gonna make 500whp without blowing up. 300-400bhp possible yes with the huge ass turbo most honda guys run. where they only make power for like 1000rpms, lol
anyway the stock 2.3L duratec is good for about 250-300whp with a GOOD tune...........after that, you should really replace the rods and pistons. as for the 500whp rsx, lol...........he told you he has stock internals? or is he saying the block can handle that with forged pistons and rods. i ran into some dude with an RSX on friday, car was idling really bad, like his MAP sensor was shot or had a bad vacumm leak. so me being the gear head i am, i approached him and asked what kinda lift and duration are you running? the ricer looks at me and was like "what do you mean" mind you this was after he was telling everyone he had cams, lol....so i laugh histerically and he says "whats so funny, u wanna run........all my boys laughed at him and the crowd dispersed laughing at him. anyway, back on topic piece it together you'll save money and probably have all the parts before the hiboost kit would even arrive

I'm looking at that right now. I'll let you know that when I decide. Probably just a Microtech L-10 for the ECU or the Haltech.
EDIT: My buddy with the RSX is going to call Ken at PeakBoost and get an oil feed and return setup that'll fit a T3/T4 if that answers your question about the oil fittings. Last edited by Inline-4; May 24th, 2009 at 11:19 PM. |
